Timeline: From September 8th. to November 21st. 2008
Subject Areas: Art, Reading, Creative Writing, Computer Skills
Project Description: Each student in the participating classes will create a self-portrait (flatten themselves). This can be done on the computer, with crayons, paints or any medium you like.
When the self portraits are finished, each student's portrait will be mailed to a different school on the list, so that each "flat student" may visit a different place. I will compile a clickable mailing list for the project.
When the "flat students" arrive at your schools, give one "flat student" to each member of the class. Students will keep with them for a week. Each student will write, or draw an adventure story or take pictures about "Flat_______'s " visit with them and illustrate it.
At the end of the visit, the stories and illustrations will be mailed back to their schools. This way each student will send and receive a story and each class will receive at least one story from each school on the list.
We won't begin to send out flat students until the week of September 8th. In the meantime we could be working on our self portraits.
